| After the March 11 earthquake and tsunami many art exhibitions and events were cancelled in Japan. Many foreign artists also cancelled their trips to Japan, or left early from residencies here. | The shimafukuro or island owl is a species of fish owl that dwells only on Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido. With a wingspan that can reach two meters, it is the largest owl in the world.
