DNP Launch Incombustible Decorative Panels
For use at facilities for the elderly
Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) is pleased to announce the May launch of a highly incombustible 120cm wide decorative panel targeting use in facilities for the elderly and healthcare facilities. The new product is offered in 30 popular woody designs, and is an addition to the DNP decorative housing panel series that has developed a firm reputation for use with doors, storage and interiors in condominiums, based on the refined design features.
From the standpoint of fire prevention, we have recently seen increased demand for incombustible interior materials from facilities for the elderly, such as special nursing homes and private nursing homes, along with hospitals, large scale retail outlets and public facilities.
DNP decorative housing panels are printed with a woody grain on an olefin resin film, and are environmentally-friendly products treated with a unique Electron Beam (EB) coating1. In this latest development, DNP has developed a decorative paneling with enhanced incombustibility, based on the use of a volcanic silicates fiber reinforced multi-layer board, in response to needs to boost incombustibility at various facilities. The newly developed product has been added to DNP' s decorative housing panel lineup.
[New Product Features]
- In addition to high incombustibility, (Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism certificate: NM1987), the newly developed product is also equipped with the features of the WS series, including high resilience to sunlight.
- The new paneling is 120cm in width, which is broader than standard 90cm products. As a result, it is easier for wheelchairs to pass through portals using the new paneling, making it suitable for use in in-room sliding doors at facilities for the elderly and at hospitals.
- It is also possible to use the new paneling in tandem with designs of other interior materials from DNP to create a totally coordinated approach.
Design costs: 6,000 yen/m2
DNP will market this newly developed product to architectural design and interior design companies targeting adoption by facilities engaged in care of the elderly and healthcare, large scale commercial outlets and public facilities. The Company aims for sales of 2.5 billion yen in FY 2016.
1: EB Coating: is a coating technology designed to cure resin layers with EB irradiation. Compared to products coated with urethane or other UV resins, EB coating is resilient in the face of scratching, dirt and sunlight, making it possible to ensure high durability, practical performance and quality stability. EB Coating facilitates energy savings in the manufacturing process, CO2 emission reductions and solvent-free coating, and is a next-generation environmentally friendly technology.
