Special Exhibition A Special CCGA The Prints of Josef Albers January 10 - 31 ,1997

Having gone to the United States after being a professor at the Bauhaus, Josef Albers left a great contribution as an educator to modern art and graphic design. It was, however, not just as an educator. The geometric abstract paintings he made to put his theories into practice present new questions to us about the diversity of perceptions even today, twenty years after his death. This exhibition showed us Albers, who has not had enough exposure in Japan, and his work through the prints from his latest years that are part of the collection of the Center for Contemporary Graphic Arts (CCGA), which is operated by Dai Nippon Printing in Sukagawa City, Fukushima Prefecture.
