The 168th Exhibition Poster Works Nagoya 12@Shigeo Okamoto/Toyotsugu Itoh/Kyoji Kotani/Akira Shiraki/Masaru Suzuki/Yukiya Takakita/Shunji Niinomi/Toshio Nomura/Yukiharu Hattori/Tadashi Hara/Kazuyuki Mori/Shunyo Yamauchi May 8(Mon.) - 31(Wed.),2000

Asked to do an exhibition, I felt tense for the first time in a long time. As the choice of exhibitors would determine the level of Nagoya, I really gave it a lot of thought. I therefore narrowed down the list this time by looking at past records and for artists who could express themselves. There is a lot of graphic design activity in Nagoya with very many original posters being created. One reason is the outstanding silk screening technology, the many exhibitions emphasizing the times by designer clubs and the many places available for exhibitions. This time, the past and present situation with designs in Nagoya were introduced through the works of 11 people other than myself who continue to try to legitimize graphic design. This exhibition had an even greater impact on graphic design in Nagoya. Finally, I am very grateful for this exhibition.
