The 181st Exhibition Typography of Hiromu Hara June 5(Tue.) - 27(Wed.),2001

Hiromu Hara is a scholarly designer with a great deal of knowledge about typography and printing and much discernment. He also served as a central figure in widely establishing design in society. There is also a cold esthetic running straight through his designs. Sober at first glance, they have no frivolant make-up thickly applied. They are formed from the most basic aspects of design have a uniform standard and unwavering dignity. With formats and bindings, for example, the choice of typography and paper represent the convergence of the author's ideas, the mood and price of the publisher and the effectiveness in the bookstore to create a sonorous, unique design. Looking through such works, we notice a hidden, inner "design conscience." This surpasses the times and is something we should learn from Hiromu Hara.
