The 232nd Exhibition Graphic Wave 2005: Ichiro Tanida/ Ichiro Higashiizumi/ Chie Morimoto September 2(Fri.) - 29(Thu.),2005

The first time these 3 people, who do such different things with such different styles, met each other was seven months before the exhibition. What they first talked about in a somewhat reserved way was that they would not pull works out of the backs of their closets but that they wanted a fresh exhibition that could only happen here and now. Also it would not be just be the three of them together but it had to be collaboration. What started slowly gradually picked up speed and plunged into a recordbreaking hot summer. During that time, materials went back and forth between the three. The gallery would not be just the background or milieu for the exhibition but would be made into a place by them. They also wanted to take off a bit with the exhibition publication. Wood carvings, a miniature gallery, packaging tape drawings, a cardboard wall, videos. Not one was a typical "work" in a frame. Along with reversing the relationship between exhibits and the place, it became a space where aspects of the three intermingled. Now a strangely good sense of solidarity remains between these three who still are very different. For the three of us, this exhibition was definitely the main event of 2005. Hot, hot, hot and feverish. It was like a dream, our feverish summer.
