Activities |
| We especially collect and house the works of the modern age artists of Fukuoka. In addition, it is also endowed with modern audio-visual equipment and a specialized library which provides the populace with informative resources and materials. Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art first opened on November 3, 1964 as the Fukuoka Prefectural Culture Center. On November 3, 1985, the former Culture Center commenced as a full-scale art museum. |

Purpose |
| Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art was founded with the aim of promoting artistic activities in Fukuoka Prefecture, and the deeping and widening of Fukuoka citizen's knowledge of art. We aim at the museum not only to appreciate fine art, but also to visit casually, to learn art, to foster the love for art, and to provide a forum for artistic activities by the people of Fukuoka Prefecture. That is to say, it is "The Active art museum" that we aim for the new century. |
