Special Exhibition : exhibitions will be decided by the planning of each exhibition.
Closed
Monday of every week. On days following national holidays. the museum will also be closed. The museum will be closed over the new year (December 28th-January 3rd)

Close to the center of Nagaoka City, born out of the verdant "Senshugahara Hometown Forest" stands the "Niigata Prefectural Museum of Modern Art" A Museum that has been designed to blend into its surroundings, harmonizing beautifully with the dramatic changes that are to be seen between the four seasons it is "a museum that is surrounded by natural beauty."
Beginning with the roof gardens, there is resplendent greenery throughout the museum and its grounds.With the purpose of letting as much natural light as light as is possible into the museum galleries a special feature of the building are the skylights which have been set into the ceilings. Inside the museum there is to be found a spacious Special Exhibition Room and three Permanent Exhibition Rooms. The Hi-Vision Gallery and Data Storage Room, there is an auditorium for lectures and events. A gallery has been provided as an area for exhibitions of original works of art, there is a restaurant and the museum shop.Every possible amenity that could be desired in a museum has been realized in the building of the Nigata Prfefectural Museum of Modern Art.
