David Lilley's work is primarily concerned with space and how it is perceived, often manipulating architecture, buildings and domestic apparatus.

Recently Lilley's work has centred around a series of house works whose balsa wood, model like structures subvert architecture's traditional sense of solidity and security, becoming fragile and precarious objects. Their curved, twisted and contorted shapes hint at new emotional content or psychological dimensions inviting one to imagine entry into their curious interiors and try to grasp what these virtual spaces might signify.
