New inspiration in a Historical Town.
Since the Edo Period, the Sakura Clan has encouraged the Samurai around the castle area to pursuit learning, specially in the fields of arts and self-defense (martial arts). The Sakura City museum of Arts, is located at the center of this old town, near many historical places like the Old Samurai Houses, the Sakura Juntendo Memorial Building, and others. It is located on a cultural and historical alte. The Old Kawasaki Bank Sakura Branch Building made of bricks was founded in 1913 and it is considerd a Chiba Prefectual Cultural Asset. It was preserved and is being used as part of this museum. This art museum is intended mainly for the artists of Sakura and Chiba Boso Peninsula Area.
But art works from in and out of the country, and exhibits, of the citizens of Sakura City will be also held. The Sakura City Museum of Art is intended to be new place for inspirations, where the citizens can feel close to the cultural arts, and be able to understand it.
