DNP Digitalcom Launches Social Media Risk Management Service
Corporate risk management service designed to prevent flaming damage

On April 15, 2014, DNP Digitalcom Co., Ltd. (DNP Digitalcom), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd (DNP), engaged in the planning and production of electronic-media based solutions, launched a Social Media Management Service designed to comprehensively support efforts to prevent social media related trouble at companies and minimize any damage.

Background to Service Launch

In recent years, we have seen the spread of social media, such as blogs, Twitter and Facebook that have made it possible for anyone to broadcast information in both an easy manner, and on a broad basis. Such social media has also developed a powerful influence and there are increased cases of companies using this media for product sales promotion and brand building. On the other hand, there appears to be no end to related trouble from social media, such as flaming, where a company incurs major damage as a result of careless or inappropriate posts.  As a result, it is becoming increasingly important for companies to deal appropriately with such situations, considering the attributes and potential risk of social media.

DNP Digitalcom has risen to the challenge and capitalized on the know-how developed in supporting corporate communications activities at companies using social media, and has launched a Social Media Management Service to help companies avoid the damage generated by social media flaming.

Overview of the Social Media Risk Management Measures

DNP Digitalcom aims to provide total support to corporate social media risk management efforts by combining the four following options in order to meet individual company needs.

1, Social Media Risk Diagnostic Service (From 300,000 yen)

Visualizes the risks posing threats via web surveys that diagnose risk from in excess of 200 checkpoints, such as actual usage by employees of official social media accounts, and interview-based surveys that reveal risk from corporate in-house management systems of official social media accounts, posted contents and rules governing expression.   

2, Social Media Guideline Production Service (From 500,000 yen)

Creates operational procedures and guidelines related to concrete measures against those risks that pose threats. DNP Digitalcom is engaged in numerous planning, production and operation agency services for social media, and possesses the know-how to respond to unanticipated pitfalls in social media functions or rules, and repeatedly altered specifications. Based on this know-how, DNP Digitalcom is in a position to create response rules to trouble which correspond to the actual situation at client companies that operations personnel can follow without difficulty.

3, Social Media Education and Training Service (Classroom lectures from 150,000 yen /e-learning from 300,000 yen)

Training for official account operations personnel (Length of training time 180 minutes)

Operations personnel study the main points they need to know in line with the attributes of various types of social media. This option carries out group work covering practical challenges, and in addition to clarifying the difference in individual member's interpretations and reactions, is also useful for integrating policy measures and actual operations.

 Training for employees (Length of training time 90 minutes)

Employees study pointers that will help them avoid triggering the damage or trouble which can hit individuals and companies, by learning about the facts of social media and case studies of past flaming. This training also introduces concrete setting methods for Twitter and Facebook designed to reduce the risk of trouble. This training is also delivered as an e-learning course compatible with smart phones and computers. It is also possible to provide the contents only, in the case of companies already equipped with an e-learning environment, and to make them compatible with the e-learning standard Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM).

4, ASP Service (Start-up fees from 120,000 yen /usage fees from 98,000 yen)

DNP's ASP service support early detection of flaming by checking distributed data on designated websites at 15 minute intervals, and in cases of articles containing designated keywords, such as company or brand names, immediately notifies to the registered mail address. This ASP service can rapidly detect a variety of risk factors, by checking postings also to Twitter and Facebook at 15 minute intervals, and issuing a variety of alarms. These include a surge alert in instances of a sharp increase* in the posting containing designated keywords, a risk alert function in instances of posts containing risk words, such as terrible, protest and warning, an identification theft function in instances where an account is created containing the name of the client company or its brand names. Data posted to Twitter and Facebook is collected and stored and can be downloaded in a CSV format, and used as big data in data mining.

* It is possible to freely set posting frequency within any designated time

Looking Ahead

DNP Digitalcom will offer this new service to major companies such as listed companies, aiming for sales of 100 million yen over a 3-year period.
