DNP Adds Malfunction Prevention Feature to Digital Picture Book Support Service
Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) has added a malfunction prevention feature to existing digital picture book support services to prevent children from using applications other than digital picture books on their tablet terminals.
The Company will add this new feature in conjunction with digital picture books to the original DNP tablet terminal with the modified blue-light emission function designed to reduce adverse effects on the eyes and body of children. The newly enhanced service will be marketed to kindergartens, nurseries, libraries, and the operators of services targeting children, beginning with commercial facilities that operate play areas for children.
Digital picture books use devices, such as tablet terminals to facilitate interactive operations, and video and audios, and leverage digital functions. The DNP digital picture book service bundles together a well-balanced combination of digital picture books in ten title units to match the age and interests of the child, and records them for presentation purposes on a tablet terminal. The service exhibits the following features;
- The selection and bundling of contents from three genres that can be repeatedly enjoyed to help develop the child's imaginative and creative capabilities.
- Based on a bookshelf type screen, the service can be manipulated intuitively, even by small children, as though they were physically removing books from the shelves, and holding them in their hands.
- Copyrighted contents facilitate care-free use.
The newly added function was developed in answer to the needs of operators for a malfunction prevention feature. This function controls the browser software so that children may only view the digital picture book service and no other applications. Looking ahead, more digital picture books will be recorded on the original DNP tablet terminal that is easy on children's eyes, thanks to the modified blue-light emission, and the total package offered as an enhanced service.
