DNP to Operate Tablet Terminal Promotion Support Service in China

Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) will commence the full scale operation of a tablet terminal based sales promotion support service in the Chinese market. This new service facilitates multilingual responses, and in addition to such basic functions as log in authentication and contents management, also bundles together electronic catalogues, and functions necessary for conducting questionnaires. By adopting this new service, it will be possible for companies to introduce tablet terminal based sales promotion applications with just a short lead time and at low cost.

DNP leverages the unique technology and know-how developed over many years of application development, to offer various tablet terminal based solutions. In Japan, the Company has also built up an impressive installation record for sales administration support applications, facility guide applications and in-bound operational support applications, beginning with energy-saving diagnostic software, jointly developed with TOHO GAS Co., Ltd and Saibugas Co., Ltd.

In this latest development, Kousen System & Software (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (Kousen System & Software), a company operating EC sites in China, has adopted the new service as a tablet terminal based business platform, and has also developed a usage environment. Looking ahead, DNP will offer the tablet terminal solutions which have developed an impressive installation record in the domestic Japanese market, Kousen System & Software will carry out application production in China using the new service, while sales will be carried out by the DNP subsidiary DNP Information and Services (Shanghai) Co.,Ltd.

[Service Summary and Features]

  • Basic Functions: Equipped with the functions necessary for information services using tablet terminals, such as log in authentication, multilingual response, automatic application start-up when not in operation, contents expiry date management, log collection and management.
  • Sales Promotion Support Functions: Facilitates the use of functions necessary for promoting sales, such as electronic catalogues, questionnaires, digital POP, product introduction, video and audio reproduction (media player), various contents production, HTML viewer-based company websites and unique display contents. In addition, these services will be customized in an optimal manner to match each company's services, such as function extension in line with specific corporate needs.

[Japan-Based Installation Case Study]

The new service was adopted as part of an energy-saving diagnostic software, jointly developed with TOHO GAS Co., Ltd and Saibugas Co., Ltd. This software runs utility fee simulations and facility performance diagnostics, based on such information as the number of family members in the user's home, type of equipment used and usage status, and offers home-based energy conservation and CO2 emission countermeasures.

Start-up costs: From 200,000 RMB

Fee calculated on basis of introduction of the new service to 50 tablet terminals. Fee does not include tablet terminal costs. Cost may change based on content details, and tablet terminal numbers.

DNP will offer this new service to Japanese companies considering business operations in China, and local companies, aiming for sales of 10 million RMB in FY 2015.
