DNP Selected as Component Member of DJSI SRI Index for 11th Consecutive Year

Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) is pleased to announce that the Company has been incorporated in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI World), a globally influential Social Responsibility Index1 (SRI) for the 11th consecutive year.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices were developed in conjunction with S&P Dow Jones Indices and the Swiss SRI rating company RobecoSAM, and launched in 1999. DJSI World assesses some 2,500 companies around the globe on economic, environmental and social sustainability dimensions, with highly ranked companies selected as index components. In FY 2015, a total of 317 companies around the globe were selected, including 20 Japanese companies.

DNP was selected from the Commercial Services & Supplies Industry, one of 59 target industries. The Company received the highest rating on the environmental dimension, and was selected as a component member based on positive assessments of its sincere efforts in the face of global social issues. These include enhancing efforts targeting responsible procurement along the overall Supply Chain, and identifying Human Rights and Labor-related risks and challenges.

DNP has also been selected by FTSE4Good Global and CDP Climate Performance Leadership both of the U.K., ETHIBEL Investment Register of Belgium, and the Morningstar Socially Responsible Investment Index. DNP is recognized, both in Japan and overseas, as a company operating a socially conscious sustainable business.

The Company has positioned knowledge and communication, food and healthcare, the environment and energy and lifestyle and mobility as growth areas, and is engaged in creating new values that will become Tomorrow's Basic.

Tomorrow's Basic means to develop products and services that help resolve corporate, consumer and social challenges, keeping them close to us at all times, and make a social contribution as a result. For example, DNP is putting effort into environmentally-based corporate activities, and apart from the development of services leading to Energy Creation, Energy Storage and Energy Saving and eco-friendly products, is also endeavoring to reduce the environmental burden of our business locations both in Japan and overseas.   

The Company has also drawn up a set of mission critical topics, and is engaged in CSR activities with a view to fulfilling the Three Responsibilities. The Three Responsibilities are, contributing to social development through 1, Value Creation, maintaining those values through 2, Integrity in Conduct, and fulfilling social accountability through 3, Transparency (Accountability).
