DNP Commences Full Scale Sales of Multilingual Self-Order Service in Thailand

Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) is pleased to announce the full scale launch of a multilingual self-order system using tablet terminals, aimed at boosting convenience and operational efficiency for the food and drink industry in Thailand.

The new system was developed by e-square solutions Pty. Ltd (ESS) of Alexandria, NSW, Australia, and in September 2014, DNP launched sales of this system for Singaporean restaurants. The new system is used at more than 50 restaurants in the Asia-Pacific region, including Southeast Asia, and has developed a reputation for being easy to use and helpful in improving operational efficiency. Depending on the restaurant, case studies suggest the possibility of 30% reductions in personnel costs and 60% increases in sales.

In this latest development, in order to expand business in Southeast Asia where remarkable economic growth is being seen, DNP will expand the area covered by the business alliance with ESS, and market this system to the food and drink industry in Thailand.

[System Overview]

The self-order system offers restaurant guests with a pleasant dining experience. The tablet terminal offers easy to follow operations, a screen that is easy on the eye and a never ending store of fresh contents. As a result, stress-free ordering can be completed in just a short time thanks to the clear, comprehensible menu. The system is also multilingual, allowing restaurant owners to achieve improved operational efficiency, and operate their businesses with just a small number of staff.

The new system works by having restaurant guests follow instructions displayed on a dedicated tablet terminal placed at their tables to facilitate easy ordering, rather than the traditional method of gaining a waiter's attention. In addition to orders being forwarded to terminals installed in dining areas and the kitchen, customer terminals are also linked to the cash register, making it possible to substantially reduce the work burdens on dining room staff. As the system promotes timely service, and reduced order, waiting and billing mistakes, it is possible to improve customer satisfaction levels. Screen displays are offered in English, Chinese and Japanese, but depending on the needs of the outlet adopting the system it is possible to offer a maximum of six languages.

The new system has been adopted by Hokkaidon, an exclusive sushi outlet operated by Create M Co.,Ltd. in EmQuartier, a large scale shopping mall situated in the Sukhumvit Road area of Bangkok.

[Looking Ahead]

In addition to this system, DNP will offer a support service for various loyalty points services and promotions, and will also operate a variety of other businesses such as spatial design in Southeast Asia.
