DNP Launches One-Stop Print Service

Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) will launch a one-stop service providing a variety of functions that facilitate activities from data storage to site configuration, image processing, along with printing and forwarding. These are all necessary services when operating image printout services for contents related to the stars of stage and screen, along with sporting athletes. The new service will be launched in August.

The newly launched service is comprised of two elements. A web-based platform offering a service for printing out images from the internet, and a manual service for printing out images at the retail outlets where they were purchased. This new service will be proposed as a one-stop print solution for companies aiming to expand their contents business.

Photographs of sports, stage and screen stars are endlessly popular with their fans, who rush to purchase live photographs immediately after attending sporting and music events.

At the same time, many companies holding such images are considering expanding their contents-based businesses, such as print services, based on these images. However, costs are likely to be incurred, and time constraints exist, when introducing the necessary equipment for print services on an in-house basis. Developing and operating web systems, and creating systems that handle processes from print outs to delivery are also a challenge, as is ensuring security when handling personal information.  

The DNP Group launched a self-service printing system-based service in 2005, and has since then operated such photo-related enterprises as ID photo cubicles or photobook production services based on orders made via the internet.

In this latest development, DNP will launch a web-based platform service that helps reduce development and adoption costs, by offering the necessary functions for print services in a one-stop format, while maintaining high level security.

  • Companies adopting the new service install printing terminals at retail outlets, sports and event venues, along with concert halls, making it possible to market images in an on-demand format, without the need to maintain inventories.  
  • The newly developed service makes it possible to market print contents held by companies via websites or at bricks and mortar outlets in a format that matches individual service requirements. Necessary systems from image storage to printouts are offered in a cloud format, and as contents and frame data can be updated via cloud, it is possible to achieve efficient operational control. Sales contents, including price setting, settlement formats and sales periods can also be set to match specific company needs.
  • All tasks from image storage to system configuration and operation will be conducted at the DNP Kashiwa Data Center that is equipped with earthquake proofing and high level security features. Also, printing and delivery will also be performed under a highly secure environment within the DNP Group.
  • Web-based sales will be offered in a service that covers tasks from receipt of orders originated by computers, smart phones and tablet terminals, payment settlement, image printouts, processing, production and delivery. Apart from printouts, photobooks, calendars, and a variety of other print formats are also available.

[Forward Looking Developments]

DNP will offer this newly developed service mainly to contents-holding companies, sports event operating companies and organizations, such as those hosting marathons, baseball and soccer matches, and together with the necessary print materials, aims for sales of 1.5 billion yen in 2017.
